Getting ready for the week- March 7th

Overview of next week: March 7th
Lesson Title: When Members Won't Get Along
Scriptures: 1 Corinthians 1:10-15; 26-29; 3:1-4

Aesop's fable, The Four Oxen and the Lion, produced one of the more memorable lines from a children's story. As the story goes, a lion continually prowled around a field occupied by four oxen. The lion wanted to eat the oxen for lunch, but the four oxen always turned their tails toward one another so the lion faced horns from all four sides. However, the oxen began to quarrel until they each retired to their own corner of the field. One by one the lion attacked and killed them. The line that was so memorable was this: United we stand, divided we fall.
Church conflict can appear over the most minor of issues. One church split after 100 years of history and the culprit was the piano bench. The church had attempted to replace an antique piano bench. Half the congregration opposed the maneuver, and the church split into two factions. They now have two different services- one with the old piano bench and one without it. Between services, people move the piano bench. Somewhere along the way they lost focus about the important things in the church.
